Anxiolytic and immune-modulating peptide
Overview
Selank is a synthetic analog of the naturally occurring immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin, developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics (Russian Academy of Sciences). It has both anxiolytic and immunomodulatory properties.
Mechanism of Action
Modulates GABA and serotonin systems → reduces anxiety without sedation → enhances BDNF expression → stabilizes enkephalin degradation → modulates IL-6 and T-cell function → influences gene expression of 36 immune-related genes.
