Oral growth hormone secretagogue

Oral
Oral administration Sustained 24-hour GH/IGF-1 elevation Improved sleep quality Increased bone density Preserved muscle mass

Overview

Ibutamoren (MK-677) is a non-peptide, orally active growth hormone secretagogue that mimics ghrelin. It stimulates sustained GH and IGF-1 elevation and is unique among GH secretagogues for its oral bioavailability.

Mechanism of Action

Mimics ghrelin at GHS-R1a receptor → sustained GH secretion → elevated IGF-1 for 24 hours → does not suppress natural GH axis → increases appetite via ghrelin pathway.
